NFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - COMPUTER TRAINING CENTRE

IRDWSI started a training centre for electronics and computers with the assistance of AISECT, Bhopal in the name of Training Centre For electronics and Computer (TCEC) at DID centre, IRDWSI premises, Semiliguda, Koraput , Orissa. The training institute commenced from January 11th , 1999. The TCEC reaches all the section of the society and imparted computer & electronic education.

AISECT is conducting an All India Coordinated Programme for Promotion of Electronics, Computers and Information Technology in rural and Tribal areas on behalf of Department of Science and Technology (Government of India) and Department of Electronics (Government of India). It is affiliated to the GG University, Bilaspur and Makhanlal Chaturvedy National University, Bhopal (MP) for conducting Diploma in Computer Application (DCA), Diploma in Computer management (DCM), Advanced Diploma in Computer Application (ADCA), Diploma in Computer Programming and Application (DCPA), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Programming and Application (PGDCPA) and other courses with centres through out India.

The second batch of the TCEC consisted of 20 DCM, 2 ADCM, 2 ADCA and 3 PGDCPA pupils. This group of computer savvy successfully completed their course to pursue on their career. Out of the 20 DCM students 9 of them are Adivasis from the neighbouring villages. Details of the groups are given in the table below:

The third batch of DCM,.class was started in July 2000. The session was from July 2000 December 2000. This group consisted of 12 students. All modules of the course viz. theory, practical, presentation and assignment were completed as scheduled. Final examination was conducted on January 5th and concluded on January 10th 2001'. One external invigilator was present at the time of the examination to investigate its conduct. Results was declared after 45 days from the date of examination. Most of the students could secured A grade and B+ grade. Details of the third batch students are shown in the table below:

The fourth batches began from 2000 January to December 2001 and the other session from January to July 2001. Two students were admitted in DCPA. Admissions were open till the end of April 2001. In this session both DCPA and PGDCPA are conducted. The contents of the modules viz. Fundamental, DOS, Windows were already prepared, except Word Processing, which is yet to be accomplished.

Study Materials

Study materials were provided by AISECT to the students. Through out the course the students were very attentive, punctual and regular in writing notes and attentive during the theory classes. For references the centre's library was effectively used in order to obtain any kind of information related to their studies. During the month of October'2000 to March'2001 we finished one batch of DCM and starting the new batch of DCPA course. All the Theory & Practical classes (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Local Area Network -and Introduction to FoxPro) of DCM are over in scheduled time. The questionnaires of DCM was set up by the instruction of AISECT. The DCM examination was held on 6th January to 10th January 2001. All the students were appeared the Final examination. One external resource person came to conduct the examination. The examination was over by the schedule time. The result was declared after 45 days from the date of examination. Most of the students got A grade and B+ grade.

The DCPA class was started on Jan'2001 onwards for the session of Jan-2001Decembee2OOl. The Theory & Practical classes were continued four modules were finished. Rest of them continued. As per the AISECT rule Theory, Practical, Presentation and Assignment are continued. The time table of DCPA was one-day theory and alternate day Practical & on Saturday of every week they have Assignment/ Presentation class

Other Activities

In theory classes we are dictating notes to student. Along with course the WFP chart, report etc- Monthly report & Letter correspondences to AISECT were done. Virus checking and cleaning of system done weekly once. Report making every month for system, status list etc.

Study Materials

The study materials were provided by AISECT to the students. Students were efficiently taking notes from their theory classes. They are using library for the reference purpose.

Future IT related Activities

- Planning to start CICA course.
- Imparting more computer training to the interested youth.
- Planning to start DTP course to make self-employee.
- Plan to start again "School Computer Programme" during the school holidays.
- Plan to start DTP course to make self-employee
